The two major volunteer activities at the Scarsdale Woman's Club are raising money for philanthropy from the sale of donated merchandise, and book distribution.
THRIFT SHOP AND TAG SALES
Volunteers meet in our Carriage House to sort and price donations which are sold at the Thrift Shop in White Plains and at tag sales at the Woman's Club or donated to organizations that distribute clothing to people in need. Tag sales are in October and April. We have a holiday boutique in December.
The Thrift Shop in White Plains is located at 39 N. Broadway on the corner of Barker Avenue in White Plains. The Scarsdale Woman's Club and two other organizations jointly staff the shop.
The Scarsdale Woman's Club's share of the money raised goes to support charities that aid women and children in Westchester County.
The shop is open every Tuesday from 9:30 am to 5 pm, and on the first Saturday of each month from 10 am to 1 pm. Please note that no donations will be accepted at the shop.

Operation Bookshelf accepts donations of gently used books and then distributes them to nonprofits in the U.S. and overseas. To date, we have distributed over 2 million books to needy organizations. Recipients of our books include nursing homes, inner-city schools, prisons, soldiers, veterans' hospitals and Peace Corps groups overseas. "Putting the right book in the right hands" is our motto.
Thrift Shop and Tag Sale Contributions
We accept nearly new clothing, small household goods and appliances in working order, jewelry, toys, and bric-a-brac. Please, no computers or computer-related equipment, no TV's, no furniture.
Donations may be left in the Thrift Bin to the right of the Carriage House along the fence.
We request only "gently used" books be donated. We do not accept technical materials, out-dated encyclopedias, travel books over 10 years old, or anything badly yellowed and/or mildewed.
Book donations may be left in the hutch behind the right side of the Scarsdale Woman's Club Carriage House.
